I spent months working 12 hours sanding floors, and taking wallpaper down with the baby on my back, and others playing into the playpen. Ha! The home was starting to appear nice, however there were a few things left. It would take lots of time and money and my personal favorite brands furnishings for this house. To stay in the realm of budgets, I took to taking my kids to estate sales looking for of diamonds. Our routine for the week consisted of walking from Thursday to Saturday through estate sales and garage sales, buying old and new pieces and then I would spend weekends painting and sanding the driveway. It was kind of similar to this... Here is where my obsession with in the process of restoring old furniture got started. Although our house was fully decorated, I was unable to quit. In the market in town I set up a little space, and also sold objects. Eventually, my collection grew so large that the room that I was living in was inadequate. There were open houses at my house that saw more than 1 000 visitors could visit in a single weekend and could buy anything they saw on the first floor. Growing Days is the result of all this. My business was not only flourishing, but I was also growing our sweet family as well. In some ways, I was able to find the perfect way to balance being a mom as well as starting my own company. Growing Days was the obvious option. My daughter Nora became our fourth daughter. My business's direction was great, but I needed to rest for a while. I took some time away from vintage furniture to spend some quality time with my kids. This was precisely what I needed at the time. Within a couple of months, the phone began to start to. They were asking for my help in interior decoration and home renovations. A majority of these were those who had walked through my property during open houses for furniture! It wasn't long before I managed a large-scale business for home improvement. I began by taking clients at a pace that I felt at ease with. It would have probably amused me if I had told you that this was going to be the subject of a DIY Network tv series. Actually, I smile slightly when I recall the story.
